Posted on Tue, Sep 30, 2014

Join your fellow music ministry members to further your musical knowledge!

“MUSIC 101” is an 8 week educational workshop designed for those who wish to better understand the basics of music.

Open to the entire parish!

Attend all 8 weeks, or pick one or more of the four workshops.

All workshops will take place in the OLR Chapel from 6:00p-6:45p

(prior to Thursday choir practice).

“BE A BETTER SINGER” – Come discover basic techniques to improve your singing! Breathing, support, vowel formation, and “your” sound will be discussed and demonstrated!

Led by Paula Trybus on Thursdays: September 25 + Oct 2

“1- AND- A- 2- AND- A- 3” – Want to know what that fraction means at the beginning of your music?  Why are some notes solid and some not?  How long should I rest? Come learn basic note values and how to read rhythms.

Led by Thom Wyatt on Thursdays: October 9 + 16

“WHAT’S MY PART?” – Learn how to “plunk out” your part, identify names of pitches, and how to read and sing your part in SATB arrangements.

Led by Sue White on Thursdays: October 23 + 30

“MUSIC MINISTRY SURVIVAL GUIDE” – Get some tips to make life in the Music Ministry a little easier.  Learn how to better prepare for rehearsals, how to listen to each other, and figure out what the heck Thom is doing!

Led by Abby Porr on Thursdays: November 6 + 13
