During the season of Lent you will notice many visual changes to our church. These changes help us remember that Lent is a time for reflection and penitence…a time to strip away all that keeps us from fully experiencing God’s love and forgiveness.
You will also notice changes in how you “hear” Sunday Mass.
Instrumentation and vocal harmonies are simplified. Silence will replace prelude and post-communion songs. The Lord’s Prayer is spoken, the Gloria is omitted, and “alleluia” is not proclaimed at any point during the Mass. Our sung Eucharistic Mass parts will be from the Mass in Honor of St Benedict. These can be found in your Worship Aid starting on page 12.
We hope that these changes, visual and audible, bring about a deeper meaning to this most holy season and the Glory that is to follow.
