Mary Calls Us to Be HolyRetreat for the Deaf
Deaf Priest to Conduct Retreat in the Columbus AreaOn April 22nd, Church of the Resurrection will host ‘Mary Calls Us To Be Holy', presented by Fr. Mike Depcik, Deaf priest and Director of Deaf Ministry in Archdiocese of Detroit
The retreat is open to all Deaf, Interpreters for the Deaf and hearing people who are fluent in sign language throughout Ohio and surrounding states.Each person must register to attend this FREE retreat. See the link below to register
The day long retreat will conclude with Reconciliation and Mass at 5:00 pm concelebrated by Fr. Mike Depcik, Fr. Denis Kigozi (Pastor at Church of the Resurrection) and Fr. Anish Thomas (Parochial Vicar). THIS MASS IS FOR BOTH HEARING AND DEAF PEOPLE.
An interpreter will be used during the Mass for people who do not know sign language. No reservations needed for Mass. -

Fr. Mike Depcik will concelebrate Mass with Fr. Denis Kigozi and Fr. Anish Thomas. The Mass will be celebrated in American Sign Language (ASL) with a voice interpreter for hearing people.

Rev. Michael Depcik, OSFSMore about father mike
Fr. Mike Depcik was born in Chicago into a Deaf family. He graduated from Gallaudet University in 1993 with a BA in Secondary Education and History.
He joined the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales a year later. Father Depcik earned a MDiv from SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary, Michigan.
He was ordained a priest in 2000 and has worked for the Diocese of Lansing, MI and the Archdioceses of Chicago, IL.
In 2005, he earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling for the Deaf from Gallaudet University.
Currently, he ministers to Deaf Catholics for the Archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan. Father Depcik has given workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Africa, Australia and Europe.
He co-authored a video curriculum for Deaf youth entitled: Confirmation: Strengthen in Faith. Father Depcik also is host of a popular video vlog that provides weekly reflections on the Sunday readings for the Catholic Deaf community.
