  • Dear Rise and CREED Families,

Faced with the difficult decision of how to safely educate our children in the year to come the Religious Education staff, along with Fr. Denis and Diocesan leaders, has been going through all of the scenarios for CREED and Rise for the 2020-2021 academic year.  It is our conclusion that there is no safe way to do this in a traditional classroom setting given our current global health crisis so we will NOT be holding in-person classes this year for grades PreK-8.

This decision was not an easy one, but we recognize the difficulty of being able to adhere to the crowd size limitations, social distancing requirements, disinfecting, and mask mandate.  We also know that many of you may not feel comfortable sending your children in the fall and we might have difficulty finding volunteers.  Covid-19 has certainly placed a lot of restrictions on our way of life right now.

However, while we are concerned about our student’s health and safety, we are also concerned with their spiritual growth.  Fortunately, the pandemic has highlighted the importance of family life in this day and age!

One alternate approach to faith formation is the whole family catechesis model where families practice their faith together at home.  Our vision became one of developing strong Catholic families in which children learn the joys of following Jesus Christ through the witness of Christian life given by their parents.

We are excited to introduce the start of a new family centered ministry called LIFT – Living in Faith Together.  LIFT is created in the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith.  At Baptism, the Church asks parents if they accept the responsibility to form their child in the practice of the faith.  We are hopeful LIFT will empower parents to do just that – give them the tools and confidence to live out that promise!

We have chosen A Family of Faith by Sophia Institute as the main resource for LIFT.  The enclosed brochure explains A Family of Faith in greater detail.  We hope you will be as excited about this new ministry as we are and are looking forward to working with your family as you embark on this journey of family faith formation.

  • About RISE

RISE (Middle School) – Inspired by Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati’s motto “Verso L’Alto” (TO THE TOP), our middle school program empowers our RISE’rs to apply the gospel to their lives. RISE meets on Sunday events from 6-7:30 in the Ministry Center. In order to better live our purpose to know, love, and serve the Lord we will be focusing this year on our source and summit – Jesus – and our encounter with Him at the mass. In addition we have guys and girls discipleship groups, Service Saturdays, weekly Bible Study, and the Frassati Society – a social club with activities throughout the year. We also have an overnight retreat in February about True Happiness that we find in Jesus. All 6-8 grade students, let us journey together TO THE TOP!

    • Who: 6-8th graders

It is more than a Bible study program. It is a life-changing experience that speaks directly to the hearts and minds of middle school aged kids. As your students are drawn into this story they will come to a new and profound understanding of who God is. Most importantly they will see God not as a distant doctrinal concept, but as a loving Father who desires a meaningful and lasting encounter with them.

    • Blaze Belong

    • Who:  7-8th Grade Girls

What:  Blaze is a Walking with Purpose ministry for Middle-School girls. It was created to counteract the way our society drives girls to question their identity, worth and beauty. Through Blaze, we emphasize how a girl’s identity is rooted in Christ as God’s chosen, beloved daughter. An antidote to bullying, anxiety, and body-image issues, Blaze replaces lies with truth and strengthens girls from the inside out through the use of Scripture-based programs.

      • 20 weekly lessons meeting at the same time as Walking with Purpose
      • Each week, participants are led through an ice breaker activity and a short lesson based on a lie found in the world and a truth found in Scripture.
      • The girls leave with a small take-home gift which corresponds with the lesson.
      • As the girls are introduced to the Bible in relevant and fresh ways, they will hear Jesus telling them how loved and beautiful they are!

When:  October 22nd through April 8th, Thursdays, 5 to 6

      Where:  Zoom Conferencing
